This past weekend I got to spend time with my sister, her 12 year old son, and his two friends.
They came up to Lake Blue Ridge and we took them out on the boat, pulled the boys on the tube and let them try to get up on water skis. My nephew tried, almost got up on skis, then threw in the towel. His good friend tried 3 or 4 times and then got up and skied for about 3-4 minutes! It was awesome! The boys were so excited and the boy that got up on skis was beaming.
It’s nice to see that joy and excitement and remember what is truly important.
I also found out, through the course of the weekend, that those 12 year old boys also get giddy over lots of candy, stupid “guy” movies, passing gas and irritating my sister.
I was exhausted by the end of the weekend and know she had to be as well.
So here’s to the giddy 12 year olds – God bless ’em, and GOD BLESS their mothers!
